On the River Thames in Oxford from June to September 2008
In partnership with Oxford River Cruises, Opera Anywhere are pleased to further its unique approach to creating opera experiences and launch another brand new concept!
The 'Opera Cruise' brings a touch of Venice to Oxford, Opera Anywhere's finest singers host intimate 2 hour cruises, on a 12 seater boat or a punt, travelling along the calm waters of the River Thames departing from Oxford. The cruise will include a performance of a series of popular arias whilst guests are encouraged to picnic on the boat followed by strawberries and cream served up by the captain!
The cruise boats, with dining facilities and awning, for protection against inclement weather, have a maximum seating capacity for 10 guests whilst a punt offers an intimate experience for up to 6.
Tickets range from £65 per head for an opera cruise on the 12 seater cruiser with a canopy or from £35 per head on a 6 seater punt. Prices include strawberries and cream but if you would like to dine on the boat picnics are encouraged.
Each cruise includes two singers performing popular arias accompanied by an opera guide explaining the concept behind each operatic piece.
Locations
Departures can be from the moorings at The Perch Inn, Binsey on the beautiful Port Meadow reach of the Thames. The moorings can be reached on foot across Port Meadow from the city centre, or by car. Parking is available.
We can also arrange departures from other locations in and around Oxford. Possibilities include Folly Bridge, Osney Island (for Oxford train and coach stations), Iffley Village, Godstow (for the Trout Inn) and Sandford-on-Thames.
